Steps worth taking.

Checkmyfile | Print and digital design

Checkmyfile produces the UK’s most detailed credit report. Over the past 18 months, I’ve helped bring their new branding to life across everything from merch and illustration to digital campaigns, transforming complex topics into vibrant and engaging brand moments.

  • With a new brand identity in place (designed by Ragged Edge), Checkmyfile needed creative ways to translate their visual world into engaging, ownable assets that would resonate with their audience. The goal was to celebrate everyday milestones in a customer’s credit journey, helping to demystify credit scores and encourage small, positive steps forward.

Their tagline, “Steps worth taking, progress worth making”, informed everything – whether we were creating merchandise that staff would actually want to wear, or illustrations that could turn financial progress into something playful and motivating. The challenge lay in striking the right tone: optimistic and warm without ever becoming patronising or overly corporate.

  • Working closely with the Checkmyfile team, I’ve created a wide array of branded materials that bring their joyful, 10-step colour palette and affirming tone of voice into real world and digital touchpoints.

Highlights include a vibrant set of illustrated achievement coins, numbered 0 to 9, used on their site to represent the first digit of a user’s credit score. Each coin is packed with character, including: two little ducks for 2, a dice for 6 and a lucky cat for 7 – making credit scores instantly more accessible and less intimidating.

To support their gamification strategy, I designed a growing set of check point achievement coins celebrating customer milestones. From ‘Keys to the kingdom’, which is unlocked when a mortgage is present on a report, to ‘Explorer’, appearing when a customer has checked every section of their report, each coin marks a moment worth recognising and helps foster long-term engagement with the platform.

Alongside this, I’ve worked on brand merchandise including boldly designed socks, a custom Tony’s Chocolonely bar, guides for partner comms, and visuals for social media campaigns – all designed to make financial improvement feel more approachable, colourful, and even fun.

“Emily is talented, responsive and totally understands the demands of a modern marketing team. A pleasure working with her!
